Beliefs, Borders, and Perception: What You Believe...You Might Get!

Your brain is a power house. You have the ability to receive billions of bits of information each day, without burning out. How? Your body has a built-in system that allows you to sift through all the info and organize it so your body does not get overloaded.

It’s called the Reticular Activating System, and its a complex network of nerves that sits in your brain stem and connects to almost all major portions of your body:

  • Motor control-movement
  • Sensory control-senses such as pain and touch
  • Visceral-organ and arterial function
  • Conscious states-sleeping and various conscious states

Have you been able to tune everyone out at a noisy restaurant? But when your favorite song comes over the speaker you “tune in”. This is the RAS filtering out info that is important to you.
The RAS filter allows information that is important to you to flow through to the body...so the body can create a physical/biochemical response. This biological response will actively reinforce this information in your life.

Why is this so important to your health? Because the RAS builds itself and grows around your beliefs. Your beliefs help form the RAS filter, and what beliefs you repeat to yourself will constantly be filtered through to your body. Your body will listen, and create pathways in every day life to fortify the belief.
