Enneagram Type Eight

Doctor Motley - Enneagram Type Eight
Type 8 - The Challenger

The EIGHTS are STRONG, COURAGEOUS, STRAIGHT FORWARD, and CLEAR.

They are the JUSTICE SEEKERS in our world. If they see someone or something being harmed, they not only want to defend but also seek justice for the wrong that’s been done.

The challenger is naturally gifted to PROTECT. They will defend, fight back, and have no problem confronting head on.

As strong and straight forward as EIGHTS are, they have a soft side, they are friendly, insightful, and always want what’s best for those around them.

EIGHTS have a combination of STRENGTH and CONFIDENCE, which brings STABILITY in the world. We feel safe and calm in the world, because they create FOUNDATION to our culture. Without the EIGHTS, we would have no judicial or police system. Judge Judy y’all!

The CHALLENGER is often looked up to, to know what to do in every situation. They can guide us in any problem to make it right. This can create a pattern in an EIGHT to judge every situation, control it, and make a decision for the benefit of others.

If the EIGHT gets FATIGUE or BURNT OUT, this pattern perpetuates into a negative outlook. They can have (unhealthy) issues with:
-Control-directing situations and people comes natural and makes them feel safe
-Anger-fatigue brings out childhood pain
-Aggression-their natural straight forward character gets heightened from stress
-Denying weakness or pain within themselves
-Forget to take care of themselves emotionally and physically

They may have experienced an unsafe childhood (physically or mentally), and were forced to grow up quickly. Showing weakness or vulnerability was used against them, so they had to create strength instead... “it is unsafe to be weak”. It creates instability if they feel taken advantage of.

EIGHTS you need to practice self-care! YOU CANNOT TAKE CARE OF EVERY PERSON OR SITUATION ALL THE TIME.

-Allow your vulnerability to come out, with yourself and others, it does not make you weak.
-Show others you trust your insecurities.
-Appreciate the differences in how others think or process
-Meditate or pray to help reduce anger, and being down the intensity to improve your health.
-Talk your feelings out.
-Practice yielding to others, to reduce stress off you
-Weekly self care activities!

EIGHTS you create a stable world. We love your direction! We feel SAFE with you. But it isn’t your responsibility to take care of every situation. Just your energy brings calmness. Don’t burn your energy out...conserve and take care of yourself. The softer side of you is also loved.
